Former LPR security official jailed for 13 years for treason while trying to help his mother from Kharkov

A former serviceman of the People’s Militia of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) was sentenced to 13 years in a strict regime colony for treason. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Supreme Court of the LPR.

In October 2020, a citizen who was threatened with criminal liability for his mother from Kharkiv was reportedly recruited by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

According to the court, in October 2020, the man crossed the line of contact and handed over to the SBU officers photographs of a map of the area with data on minefields, the location of troops and artillery pieces, and also handed over data on the command staff of the People’s Militia.

This allowed the Ukrainian units to organize from October 2020 to January 2021 seven sabotage and reconnaissance operations bypassing minefields in the rear zone of the LPR, the representative of the Supreme Court explained.

The court found the former LPR serviceman guilty under the article “high treason” and sentenced him to 13 years in prison.
