Gas cylinder will increase its price from Friday, April 26

Through a statement, the Peruvian Liquefied Gas Society (SPGL) announced a new increase in the price of the gas cylinder, which will take effect starting this Friday, April 26. According to letter No. 021-2024-OS/GRT, published by Osinergmin, the increase in the cost of LPG per 10 kg cylinder will be S/1.89.

This is the fourth increase so far in the last three years and would affect more than seven million homes throughout Peru that use LPG cylinders for cooking, as well as the more than 200,000 SMEs that use it for their businesses.

Along these lines, the statement reads that the Peruvian Liquefied Gas Society points out that it is essential to have a stabilized LPG price, in order to avoid inconvenience, especially for those who use this resource.

What is LPG?

Liquefied Petroleum Gas is a balanced mixture of volatile hydrocarbons, mainly propane butane.

Its main technical characteristics are these:

• It is stored and transported in a liquid state in tanks that keep it under pressure.
• It remains in a gaseous state at normal temperature.
• It does not have color; It is transparent in its liquid state.
• It does not smell. To detect it in case of a leak, ethyl mercaptan is added, a substance with a pungent odor.
• It is very flammable. When it escapes, it vaporizes and, given a small flame or spark, ignites violently.

Likewise, it has different uses:

• Domestic: kitchens, hot springs, heating.
• Industrial: ovens, boilers, electricity generation.
• Automotive: cars, tractors, buses and trucks. Medium and long-distance transport vehicles, urban transport, gas stations converted to LPG and dual gasoline-LPG system.
