The housing programs promoted by the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS), since its creation to date, have allowed access to a social interest home for 594,000 families, said the Deputy Minister of Housing and Urbanism, Cecilia Lecaros Vértiz.
The official, during her participation in the panel of experiences of the Latin American Conference on Housing, Energy and Sustainability (CLAVES 2022), which has been taking place in Argentina, explained that, due to the consensus around the importance of access to housing and policies implemented, in recent years subsidies have reached a greater part of the population.
In this way, since 2014, nearly 357,000 families have accessed a home with the financial aid of the Roofing Family Housing Bonus, and nearly 54,000 have managed to acquire a property through the New Mivivienda Credit subsidy.
Likewise, Lecaros highlighted that 49,000 Sumaq Wasi bioclimatic houses have been built between 2014 and 2022, which benefit the same number of families living in poverty and extreme poverty in rural areas.
The official also explained that her sector has implemented strategic and regulatory instruments to address the inadequate living conditions in the country, such as the National Housing and Urban Planning Policy and the Sustainable Urban Development Law with its respective regulations.
Finally, he specified that new products are being developed from the MVCS to deal with informal employment and promote access to housing, among which a new subsidy for real estate rental stands out.
