The Russian Football Union (RFU) has announced the tentative dates for the return of the national team to international tournaments. The information is published on the official website of the organization.

The benchmark for the return is the qualifying tournament for the 2030 World Cup, which starts in the fall of 2028. The RFU noted that during the period of suspension, the national team should be provided with competitive playing practice and related development projects.

It is proposed to hold up to ten friendly matches annually during official national team games windows. In addition to friendly matches, it is planned to hold a commercial tournament in Russia or abroad with the invitation of national teams participating in world championships and continental championships.

Russian clubs and national teams have not taken part in international competitions since February 2022 by decision of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations. Teams do not compete in European competitions, and the Russian national team has lost the opportunity to fight for access to the finals of the World and European Championships.
