Castillo: ISC exemption for fuels meant savings of S/ 1,000 million for users

The Republic PresidentPedro Castillo, highlighted during his message to the nation the effects of exempting from the selective consumption tax (ISC) the fuels. This measure was in force between April 3 and June 30, 2022 for gasoholes Y gasoline 84 and 90 octane.

In the middle of his speech, East 28 of JulyCastillo Terrones maintained that said government measure “has meant savings that benefited users for S/ 1,000 million”. In this sense, the head of state argued that this decision represented “a great effort in favor of our carriers.”

The Government adopted this strategy to try to mitigate the rise in fuels derived from international volatility, in a context affected by the war between Russia and Ukraine.

This measure was in force from April to June, and the Association of Transporters of Peru he asked to extend the measure until December; however, the Deputy Minister of Transportation, Luis Rivera, indicated that this would generate an imbalance of S/ 3,500 million in the fiscal box.

Pedro Castillo also highlighted in another point of his speech actions through Fuel Price Stabilization Fund. Through this mechanism, “we have managed to alleviate the rise in prices financed with an amount of S / 1,950 million in the period that my Government has been in office,” stressed the president.

Likewise, he prioritized during his message the temporary exoneration of the general sales tax (IGV) to some products of the basic basket. However, “bad practices of some businessmen” prevented such tax changes from being reflected in the final prices, Castillo said.
