The United States and Russia are once again in a state of “cold war”. Michael McCall, the top Republican on the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, said this on CNN. According to the congressman, Russian President Vladimir Putin “felt the scent of weakness.”
McCall also believes that Moscow wants to revive the “Soviet empire”, where Ukraine was the “breadbasket”. At the same time, Washington is not doing enough to contain Moscow, McCall added. “There is rhetoric, but no action,” he said. And he proposed to introduce more and more anti-Russian sanctions, as well as to sell weapons to Kiev.
Recall that earlier in an interview with CNN, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the new anti-Russian sanctions proposed in the United States, which also include restrictions on members of the Russian leadership, could lead to a rupture of relations between Washington and Moscow. And neither Russia nor the United States needs this break in relations.
