Greek vehicle owners can now access their 2027 road tax payment notices through the Independent Authority for Public Revenue's digital myCAR platform.
The tax authority published the payment slips on Monday, November 2, opening a two-month payment window that concludes on December 31, 2026.

Upon accessing the notification slips, car and motorcycle owners can review the exact amount due for the 2027 calendar year. Each document contains a unique European RF payment code, allowing motorists to settle their fee quickly through digital banking networks.
The Independent Authority for Public Revenue, known as AADE, administers taxation, customs, and fiscal compliance across Greece. Motorists who fail to pay by the final day of the year face an escalating schedule of statutory financial penalties that begins on January 1, 2027.
Payment methods and online access
Vehicle owners can retrieve their payment forms by logging into the myCAR application on the official myAADE web portal using their personal TAXISnet credentials. TAXISnet is the central digital authentication system that Greek citizens use to file annual taxes and access public administration services.
The agency also provides a simplified lookup service that does not require personal login credentials. Motorists can download and print their payment slip simply by entering their vehicle registration plate number alongside their nine-digit tax identification number, known locally as the AFM.

The tax administration confirmed that drivers do not need to visit a local tax office or public financial service branch to issue or settle the paperwork. The digital system handles passenger cars, two-wheeled motorcycles, and commercial utility vehicles.
Payments can be completed electronically through digital banking apps, credit cards, debit cards, or web banking services. The myCAR application also generates a scannable QR code to accelerate online transactions.
Motorists who prefer to settle their bills in person can present the printed debt identity slip at any commercial bank branch, Hellenic Post office, or participating retail partner. However, taxpayers with unresolved dues from previous tax years or unsettled vehicle mobility filings must clear those historical balances before the platform allows them to print the 2027 slip.
Vehicle fee calculations and rates
The calculation system and vehicle categories remain entirely unchanged for the 2027 tax period. Circulation fees continue to be determined by engine displacement in cubic centimeters or rated horsepower for private passenger cars.
Motorcycles are billed strictly according to their engine capacity in cubic centimeters, while other vehicle classifications follow standardized commercial brackets. Under standard AADE regulations, vehicle circulation levies for each upcoming calendar year are collected between November 1 and December 31 of the current year.

Late payment penalties and surcharge scale
Motorists who miss the December 31 deadline will face tiered penalty surcharges that can double their original tax assessment. The escalating fee structure imposes progressive fines depending on when the outstanding balance is cleared.
Under the statutory scale, accounts paid on or before December 31, 2026, incur no additional charge. Payments made during the month of January 2027 will carry a 25 percent surcharge on top of the original fee.
Delaying payment into February 2027 raises the penalty to a 50 percent surcharge. From March 1, 2027, onwards, the penalty rises to a 100 percent surcharge, effectively doubling the road tax bill. For smaller vehicles whose annual tax is less than 30 euros, the authority has established a fixed minimum penalty of 30 euros.
Off-road declarations and exemptions
Drivers who do not plan to operate their vehicles on public roads during 2027 can apply for a formal tax exemption by submitting a digital immobility declaration through myCAR. This online procedure allows owners to place vehicles off the road without surrendering physical metal license plates to tax inspectors.

To qualify for the off-road exemption, the vehicle must not carry an active motor insurance policy or an unexpired roadworthiness certificate from a technical vehicle inspection center. The digital immobility filing must be completed on the myCAR system on or before December 31, 2026, to relieve the owner from the 2027 tax charge.
