Doctors continue to fight for the life of Turin-2006 Olympic champion Roman Kostomarov.
According to a RIA Novosti source, his condition is assessed as extremely serious.
“A part of the brain is affected, there is a hemorrhage, a hematoma has formed. The condition is extremely serious, ”the agency quoted the source as saying.
Recall that Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia. After the examination, it became known that the disease would be difficult. “We understood that the methods we use to save lives have certain possible complications that may require surgical correction in the future,” said Denis Protsenko, who heads the medical center in Kommunarka, where Kostomarov was transferred.
To save the athlete’s life, doctors were forced to connect him to ventilators and ECMO. Subsequently, Kostomarov developed sepsis and peripheral circulatory disorders. He underwent partial amputation operations on his legs, and then on his arms. Doctors are making every effort to save the athlete’s life, but consider it impossible to make predictions about the further development of the situation.
