Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi said the state is ready to provide businesses with priority access to government premises to decentralize warehouse infrastructure following Russian attacks.
Koretskyi announced the initiative after an urgent meeting with representatives from business, retail, and logistics companies. He instructed the Ministry of Economy, the Asset Recovery and Management Agency, known as ARMA, and the State Property Fund to prepare a list of available facilities within three days.
Koretskyi said Russia is systematically targeting enterprises that supply goods to millions of Ukrainians. He added that the primary task is to prevent supply disruptions of food, medicines, and other essential goods, particularly in frontline regions, while state officials and business leaders work on specific solutions to maintain continuous operations.
Government support measures
The government will hold a dedicated meeting in the near future with leadership from the National Bank, the banking sector, and relevant ministries to discuss credit support mechanisms. Koretskyi noted that standard approaches fail during wartime, requiring fast and non-standard solutions.
Officials are also preparing decisions to decentralize international logistics and expand the customs corridor. Koretskyi said the government is working on war risk insurance and expects support from international partners to build effective mechanisms, warning that ongoing strikes on businesses could increase national unemployment.
Damage to retail and logistics
The announcement followed widespread Russian strikes on commercial infrastructure on Aug. 5. A Russian missile strike destroyed two logistics centers and a ceramics factory belonging to Epicentr, killing one worker, while attacks on distribution centers of Silpo killed six workers.
Several missiles hit a Novus logistics center, forcing it to suspend operations, and a strike destroyed a Toyota warehouse holding spare parts and accessories. Russian attacks also targeted facilities belonging to online retailer Rozetka, postal provider Nova Poshta, and MTI group, which operates Intertop and the Pandora network.
