Disgusting event in Spain: a doll appeared hanging from a bridge with Vinicius’ Real Madrid shirt

The appearance of a doll with Vinicius’s shirt hanging from a bridge marred the Copa del Rey derby that Real Madrid won 3-1 over Atlético this Thursday and sparked a wave of solidarity with the player.

The effigy was hung simulating a hanging from a bridge near the Real Madrid training center.

A banner was placed on the bridge reading “Madrid hates Real”, according to the photographs and videos published by local media.

“We are investigating what happened,” police sources told AFP, without giving further details.

According to the Spanish press, the motto that appears on the doll is usually used by radical Atlético de Madrid fans.

After Real Madrid’s victory in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey over Atlético, Vinicius published a tweet with the slogan “Madrid there is only one. Everyone knows them.”

This was followed by another in which he wrote “Vini loves Madrid” with a heart, in what seems to be a response to the slogan that appeared this Thursday morning.

Vinicius was once again the center of controversy after already being the target of racist insults in the last match between the two teams.

‘An extraordinary talent’

In the league derby last September, in which the whites won 2-1, some rojiblancos fans chanted racist insults against Vinicius before and during the match.

These facts were brought before the courts, which closed the case as they had not found a crime or who to blame.

Vinicius “is a player that we need, that football needs, who has an extraordinary talent,” said the Merengue coach, Carlo Ancelotti, for whom “we have to protect him physically and mentally.”

“I see him motivated. He doesn’t complain, ”added the Italian coach, when asked about the fouls the Brazilian player receives and his constant scuffles with opposing players and fans in his matches.

The new action towards the Brazilian has unleashed a wave of rejection and demand for responsibilities, starting with his own club.

“We express our firmest condemnation of events that violate the fundamental rights and dignity of people, and that have nothing to do with the values ​​that football and sport represent,” Real Madrid said in a statement.

The white team appreciates the support received “after the unfortunate and disgusting act of racism, xenophobia and hatred against our player Vinicius” and “trusts that all the responsibilities of those who have participated in such a despicable act will be cleared.”

‘Disgusting facts’

“Acts like this are absolutely disgusting and inadmissible and embarrass society. Our condemnation of any act that attacks the dignity of people or institutions is resounding and without palliatives,” Atlético said in a statement.

The rojiblancos hoped that “the authorities will be able to clarify what happened.”

“We hope that those responsible are identified and punished,” reacted the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).

The CBF expressed its rejection of “the racist acts suffered once again by Vinicius Jr. Intolerance and discrimination are not part of sport and must be eradicated from society.”

LaLiga, after condemning the facts, affirmed that “it will urge the investigation of the facts in search of the conviction of those responsible, requesting the most severe criminal sanctions.”

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) also “regrets and strongly condemns the intolerable act” committed a few hours after the Madrid derby.
