Emmanuel Macron Warns Russia After Missile Attacks on Kyiv

French President Emmanuel Macron warned that Europe will not yield to fatigue or intimidation after new Russian strikes hit Kyiv and destroyed clothing warehouses on Aug. 5.

Macron wrote on X that Russia once again targeted civilians in Kyiv and its outskirts. He called the missile and drone strikes an unacceptable policy of terror, adding that each new attack confirms Russia must pay a price for its aggression and answer for its crimes.

Macron stated that the European Union and its partners will continue increasing pressure on Russia through new sanctions. He also pledged to strengthen military support so Ukraine can defend itself and its population.

Damage to clothing warehouses

Russian shelling on the night of Aug. 5 destroyed warehouses belonging to well-known clothing and footwear brands in Kyiv and the surrounding region. The strike hit a logistics complex owned by Puma.

Puma representatives said the company is doing everything possible to restore its logistics. However, Puma warned that a shortage of certain brand goods could occur in Ukraine over the coming weeks or months.

The attack also damaged infrastructure belonging to fashion company Intertop Ukraine.
