Olga Zincheva, a Russian neurologist and somnologist at the SM-Clinic, revealed the dangers of using smartphones before bed. This is reported by Izvestia.
As noted in a conversation with the medic publication, it is undesirable to put a smartphone next to you while sleeping. Radio frequency radiation from a gadget is absorbed by human tissues and can have a negative impact on health. There is also a risk of fire if the phone is charging.
It is clarified that radiation increases the risk of developing infertility, cancer, neurological and mental disorders. However, there is no data that would unequivocally allow talking about the dangerous effect of smartphones on the body, the doctor added.
“The blue light of the phone screen negatively affects the eyes, biological rhythms, causes insomnia, headaches, decreased performance, memory impairment and provokes the appearance of degenerative eye diseases,” Zincheva noted, warning users about the risk of using devices before bedtime.
In May, the doctor-somnologist of JSC “Medicine” Maxim Novikov spoke about the effect of smartphones on sleep. The specialist noted that, when waking up at night, you should not take your phone and check the time, as this excites the nervous system, and the bright light from the screen destroys the melatonin necessary for rest.
