The details of the “punishment” of the Russian Federation in the form of sanctions against energy carriers have become known. Current energy contracts from Russia must be completed within 45 days, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said at a briefing.

According to her, the US company is given such a period to fulfill existing contracts before the ban on energy imports from the Russian Federation comes into force, new contracts are prohibited. She added that the US produced above average oil and gas last year, and “next year is predicted to be a record year in terms of oil and gas production.”

In addition, Psaki linked the current increase in gasoline prices at gas stations in the United States with the actions of the Russian leadership and a special operation in Ukraine.

Recall that US President Joe Biden signed a decree banning the import of energy resources from the Russian Federation and any actions aimed at circumventing the president’s decision, as well as attempts to collude with such goals. Exceptions to the import ban may be made by law, directives or licenses.
