Houthi missiles target Aden airport in southern Yemen

Iran-backed Houthi militants launched two missiles targeting Aden International Airport in southern Yemen early in the morning, security officials said. No casualties were reported following the attack.

According to the press office of the Aden security services, both missiles were directed toward the airport in the port city. The facility serves as the primary international air gateway for regions of Yemen that remain outside Houthi control.

Aden is the main southern urban centre and economic hub, serving as the interim seat of government after Houthi forces seized control of the capital, Sanaa, during the civil war.

The attack on the airport comes during a new escalation in fighting across the country. Following weeks of Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast, forces aligned with the Saudi-backed government launched a counteroffensive to regain territory.

With air support from the coalition, government troops have recaptured areas surrounding the strategic Bab al-Mandab strait. The narrow waterway connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and forms a vital corridor for global shipping.

Saudi coalition intercepts ballistic missile

Earlier, the Saudi-led military coalition announced that it intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile launched toward the city of Khamis Mushait in southern Saudi Arabia, according to Saudi state television. Khamis Mushait is located in the southwestern region of the kingdom, near the border with Yemen.

According to coalition statements reported by state media, missile threats were identified as originating from Sanaa, as well as the northern provinces of Saada and Amran. Saada province has long served as the primary stronghold of the Houthi movement.

Shortly after the coalition announcement, the Houthi-affiliated television network Al Masirah reported that Saudi forces conducted a military strike in an area between the central Yemeni provinces of Ibb and Taiz.

The Saudi-led coalition has not confirmed the reported strike in the area between Ibb and Taiz.
