After renewing with Real Madrid, Modric can beat Puskas record; understand

With the renewal with Real Madridmidfielder Luka Modric may be close to breaking a record defended by Ferenc Puskas, legend of the Spanish club, more than 20 years ago.

The former Hungarian striker is, to this day, the oldest player to play in an official match with the merengue shirt. On May 8, 1996, against Real Betis, the former athlete set the record with an age of 39 years and 36 days.

Today, Modric is 37 years old. At the end of his new contract with Real, in June 2024, the Croatian player will be 38 years and ten months old. Therefore, if he wants to break the record, he will have to extend his bond with the Spanish club even further.

During the period, if he fully fulfills his contract with Real Madrid, Modric will surpass: Di Stéfano (37 years and 268 days), Dudek (38 years and 59 days) and Buyo (38 years and 63 days). That way, he would become at least the second oldest player to play for Madrid in history.

Since arriving at Real Madrid in 2012, Luka Modric has won five Champions Leaguesthree Spanish Championshipstwo King’s Cups, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups and four Spanish Super Cups.
