SBU conducts counterintelligence operation in the government quarter of Kyiv

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the conduct of “counterintelligence activities” on the territory of the Pechersky district of Kyiv and in the government quarter located there.

As stated in the press service of the SBU, the purpose of the operation is “to check and strengthen the counter-sabotage protection of important state facilities, increase the security of persons in respect of whom state protection is carried out.” Also, according to the department, inspections are taking place in nearby areas. They involve employees of the State Security Department, the National Police and the military police of the country.

In particular, law enforcement officers inspect the territories and premises of offices, common areas of multi-apartment residential buildings, public service establishments – to “identify items prohibited for circulation.” In addition, checks are being carried out on people in the government quarter.

The SBU stressed that the inspections are taking place taking into account the martial law regime, which may restrict passage and travel through the streets of the capital, check the documents of citizens and search cars.
