Artist background and career history
Eudis Alcántara Valdez, who performs under the stage name "El Invencible", was born in Elías Piña, a western province of the Dominican Republic along the border with Haiti. He relocated to the capital city of Santo Domingo at the age of 17. Before dedicating himself full-time to his career in music, he combined his artistic endeavors with service in the Dominican Army.
Santo Domingo, located on the Caribbean coast of Hispaniola, is the central hub of the Dominican Republic's entertainment industry. In contrast, Elías Piña is a rural frontier region where traditional guitar-driven music developed deep cultural roots before finding broader audiences in major urban centers.
Bachata is a major style of Latin American music that originated in the Dominican countryside during the mid-20th century, characterized by acoustic guitars, percussion, and romantic lyricism. Over recent years, Eudis has strengthened his standing within contemporary bachata, culminating in a nomination for Bachata of the Year at the Premios Soberano 2026 awards for his hit track "Tik Tok".
The Premios Soberano are the highest cultural accolades in the Dominican Republic, presented annually in Santo Domingo by the Association of Art Critics to celebrate outstanding achievements in music, television, theater, and radio.
