A court in Yekaterinburg has ordered a man held in pretrial detention after he fired an air gun at children, the Telegram channel Ural Mash reported.

The man shot at young children from the window of the abandoned Madrid hotel, which he claimed to be guarding. Investigators said he had no license for the weapon or for security work. He was ordered held in pretrial detention until September 29.

Boys were throwing pebbles

Investigators said an unknown person had fired at two teenagers from the window of the derelict Madrid hotel as they threw pebbles into a gap between the building and the ground. One boy suffered bruising on his back and an injured ear.

Investigators said the shooter had no private security license. According to investigators, the man said he had gone to the Madrid hotel himself after noticing the building was unguarded.
