Bayern Munich renews with young Croatian full-back until 2025

O Bayern Munchen announced, on Friday, the contract renewal of Croatian Josip Stanisic. The 21-year-old right-back, who was linked to the club until 2023, signed until the end of the 2024/25 season.

“I want to thank the club for their faith in me. I will try to stay in the good shape of the last few months – they have been phenomenal for me and I enjoyed every second. My goals are very clear: I want to help the team as much as I can, so that my good performances can help us win as many titles as possible,” said the defender on the Bavarian team’s website.

One of Bayern’s directors, Hasan Salihamidzic, celebrated the renewal and praised the athlete: “We are delighted to integrate another talent from our youth category into the first team. Josip got established very quickly. He worked his way up to professional and is a nice addition.”

Trained at the base of Bayern Munich, Josip Stanisic made his first-team debut last season. As early as 2021/22, he gained space in the team after an injury to Benjamin Pavard and played eight matches – half as a starter. The young athlete played two games for the Croatian Selection, being the first of them last Friday, in the victory by 3-0 against Cyprus.

at the top of the Bundesliga, Bayern returns to the field on Sunday, at 10:30 am (GMT), when they face the runner-up Bayer Leverkusen out of home. Suspended, Pavard will not play and, thus, Stanisic could be chosen by coach Julian Nagelsmann. Frenchman Bouna Sarr is the other option for the right flank.
