No Vinícius Júnior on the fieldReal Madrid visited Sevilla this Saturday and won by 2-1, for the 37th round of the Spanish Championship. After leaving behind with a goal by Rafa Mir, the merengue team turned the game around with two great goals from the Brazilian Rodrygo.

With the result at Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, Real Madrid remained second in La Liga, with 77 points, four more than Atletico Madrid, third in the table, who will still play in the round. Sevilla, on the other hand, dropped to 10th place with 49 points and is outside the qualifying zone for European competitions.

First time

Vini Jr. was not the only embezzlement of the Real Madrid attack. In addition to him, coach Carlo Ancelotti did not have Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio and Mariano Díaz at his disposal. Therefore, he only used Rodrygo as a striker and used improvised Dani Ceballos and Fede Valverde.

Seeing the opponent’s difficulties in getting used to the new formation, Sevilla took the opportunity to open the scoring after just three minutes of play. After hitting and rebounding in the area, the ball was left for Rafa Mir to kick first and swing the nets inside the area.

The visitors had a chance to equalize in the 14th minute when Lucas Vázquez crossed and put Rodrygo in front of the goal. The attacker wasted the chance with an empty goal. However, Rodrygo redeemed himself by scoring a beautiful goal from a free kick, in the 28th minute.

Second time

In the second stage, both technicians promoted substitutions. Eduardo Camavinga and Álvaro Rodríguez came on for Real, while Suso and Jordán came off the bench for Sevilla. The match remained open, with chances for both sides.

In the 23rd minute of the second half, Toni Kross passed to Rodygo for a counterattack. The attacker dribbled the marking and touched low in the goalkeeper’s corner, turning the match to Real Madrid.

The match heated up in the final stretch and lateral Marcos Acunha was expelled in the 38th minute. The Argentine tackled Ceballos without the ball and received a direct red card. With one more, the Meringue team controlled the match and even had chances to expand, but stopped at goalkeeper Bono.
