Judge who injured teenager at hockey game disqualified

Judge Cherenkov, who injured a teenager at a hockey match in Moscow, was disqualified

Hockey referee Alexander Cherenkov received a disqualification following the meeting of the Moscow Open Championship between the Armada and North Star teams, made up of players born in 2006. This was reported on the website of the Moscow Ice Hockey Federation (FHM).

The decision was made by the Sports and Disciplinary Committee of the organization. The referee has been temporarily suspended from serving the matches of the FHM youth competitions until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The incident happened on January 29th. Teenagers during the match staged a fight, the referees began to separate the players. Cherenkov tripped one of the meeting participants, as a result of which he hit his head on the ice and was injured. The hockey player was hospitalized with a suspected concussion.

The victim was examined, concussion was not confirmed. It was also reported that the hockey player’s parents have no complaints against the referee.
