President of the Russian Association of Cryptoeconomics, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain (RACIB) Yuri Pripachkin called “unprofessional and unrealizable” the proposals published by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation to ban the circulation and mining of cryptocurrency in Russia.
“Instead of regulating the crypto industry (and there are successful examples of such regulation in the world), the Central Bank is trying to simply ban it. But the Central Bank did not allow the issue of cryptocurrency, and therefore will not be able to ban it, ”RBC quotes an expert.
According to him, about 17 million people in Russia own crypto wallets, and with proper regulation, this money could be put into legal circulation. “In the USSR, they tried to ban the circulation of dollars and failed, there was a large shadow market,” the president of RAKIB emphasized.
At the same time, he considers the proposal to ban the mining of cryptocurrencies unrealizable from a technical point of view: “The district police officer will not be able to walk and check operations on the server.”
Recall that on the eve of the Bank of Russia in its report for public consultations proposed to introduce a complete ban on the mining, issue, circulation and exchange of cryptocurrencies, on the organization of these operations on the territory of the Russian Federation, and a ban on banks to invest in cryptocurrencies.
