Kanye West to perform in Russia for first time in October

American rapper Kanye West will perform his first concerts in Russia in October 2026 as part of his global Ye Live Concert Tour. Both shows will take place at the Gazprom Arena in Saint Petersburg on October 10 and October 11.

The Gazprom Arena, located on Krestovsky Island in Russia's second largest city, is a venue with a seating capacity of 68,000. The upcoming performances will mark the first time the hip-hop artist has brought an official concert tour to the country.

VIP tickets for the Saint Petersburg concerts sold out within two hours of going on sale, according to the official event website. Regular admission tickets range in price from 12,000 to 50,000 rubles, while tickets for the dance floor are priced at 25,000 rubles. VIP packages for West's shows were sold for 160,000 rubles.

Russian music producer Yana Rudkovskaya announced that West will not restrict his Russian visit to the two dates in Saint Petersburg. She stated that the artist will also perform shows in Moscow, the Russian capital, and promised that further details regarding the Moscow dates would be disclosed in the near future.

Russian reaction to the tour

Prominent figures in Russia have commented on the rapper's decision to perform in the country. Elena Drapeko, first deputy chair of the State Duma Committee on Culture and Honoured Artist of the RSFSR, stated that the artist is needed in Russia because he has many fans. Drapeko also expressed her gratitude to West for deciding to come with concerts despite what she described as anti-Russian hysteria.

The State Duma serves as the lower house of the Russian parliament, while the RSFSR title is an official honor created during the Soviet era. Russian singer Sergey Lazarev also commented on the announcement, stating that if West's arrival takes place, it will undoubtedly be a major event for his fans. Lazarev added that having more opportunities for audiences to choose from and see diverse artists is better for spectators.

Spectacle and new album Bully

West's current tour is tied to his new album Bully, which was released in March 2026. The Ye Live Concert Tour features a complex stage design called the Globe Stage, which West developed in collaboration with designer Os Taylor. During the two-hour performance, West stands atop a massive sphere measuring approximately 12 meters in height, creating the visual effect of towering over the planet as images of the Moon and Earth are projected onto the structure.

According to West, the elaborate hemisphere design symbolizes his return to the top of the world after everything he has had to go through. The artist performs a wide selection of major hits spanning various eras of his career, including Power, Runaway, Niggas in Paris, Praise God, Black Skinhead, and Ghost Town. In addition, West performs tracks from the Bully album, including Bully, Beauty and the Beast, White Lines, and Highs and Lows.

European cancellations and controversies

The announcement of the Russian tour follows widespread concert cancellations across Europe, where multiple governments and venue management teams blocked West from performing. Authorities in the United Kingdom revoked West's entry permit, which prevented him from appearing at London's Wireless Festival. The festival was subsequently cancelled by its organizers.

Venues and officials in Poland, France, Switzerland, Italy, and the Czech Republic also cancelled scheduled concerts by the artist. Many of West's performances in the United States were met with public protests. The cancellations and protests stemmed from antisemitic statements made by West, including his self-identification as a Nazi in a song titled Heil Hitler released in May 2025.

West later removed the song from circulation and issued an apology for his actions. The rapper subsequently explained his controversial behavior as the result of a frontal lobe brain injury.

Despite cancellations elsewhere, West's tour achieved historic attendance figures during a performance in Turkey. At the end of May 2026, West performed at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul before a crowd of approximately 118,000 spectators, making it the highest-attended stadium concert in world history.

The Istanbul event attracted several high-profile Russian celebrities, including television presenter Viktoria Bonya, singers Glukoza and Anna Sedokova, and actor Sergey Burunov. The venue, named after modern Turkey's founder Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, surpassed the previous world record held by the British rock band Coldplay.

Coldplay, led by frontman Chris Martin, set the prior attendance record in January 2025 when 111,000 fans attended their concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
