Kelly Osbourne, the daughter of late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, said most people who meet her three-year-old son, Sidney, tell her they see her father in him, more than a year after his death.
Osbourne, 41, made the comments to HELLO! magazine. She said that in the short time her father and son overlapped, they still managed to spend a great deal of time together. She said she moved into her parents' home when she became pregnant and then spent nearly the first two years of Sidney's life living alongside her father.
Kelly Osbourne first became known to audiences through "The Osbournes" as a teenager, and has since worked as a television host, fashion commentator and singer in the years since the show aired.
Talking to his grandfather every day
Osbourne said her son continues to speak to her father as though he were still alive, adding that Sidney talks to his grandfather every day. She said the boy has already picked up some rather colorful language, just as his grandfather was known for during his decades in the music industry.
When people ask Sidney where he learns his new words, he is quick to credit his grandmother, Sharon Osbourne. Osbourne said that whenever they ask him, the boy replies that his grandmother told him, and that she then jokes he must have heard it from her.
Who was Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne rose to fame in the late 1960s as the frontman of Black Sabbath, the Birmingham band credited with helping to found heavy metal, before building a long solo career with songs including "Crazy Train." Known to fans as the "Prince of Darkness," he later became a fixture of reality television with "The Osbournes," the MTV series that followed him, his wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack inside their Los Angeles home. He died in July 2025 at the age of 76.
Sharon Osbourne, his widow, built her own career as a talent manager and television personality, later becoming known to American audiences as a co-host of the talk show "The Talk" and a judge on "The X Factor."
A lengthy tribute on Instagram
Kelly Osbourne has spoken publicly before about how she has been coping with the loss of her father. Marking one year since his death, she shared a lengthy message on Instagram.
She wrote that a year earlier, the world had changed forever, but that she now sits beside her father in a way she never believed would be possible. She said she still feels him in the silence, in the wind, in every song that stops her in her tracks, in the scent of his cologne, and in every moment love outweighs grief, adding that he is everywhere around her.
She also wrote that the love she felt for her father could not be compared to anything else. She said she had never loved anyone or anything as deeply or as uniquely as she loves him, and that she now carries that love with nowhere to put it except within herself, into her son and into her mother. She said it hurts every day but is also the greatest privilege of her life to have loved someone so completely.
Seeing her father in Sidney
In the same post, Osbourne described the ways she sees her father reflected in young Sidney. She wrote that her father would have loved the little man their grandson is becoming, adding that she recognizes his smile, his spirit and his mannerisms in the boy.
She said it sometimes stops her in her tracks, because it feels as though her father found a way to remind her that love never truly leaves. Seeing him mirrored in her son, she said, is one of the greatest gifts she has ever received.
