Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay Peru SA (CSPCP), a company that has been developing and building the Multipurpose Port of Chancay, regretted that this year, “close to the operation stage, the project is being seriously affected by a change in the regulatory scheme. and by interpretations on the part.”
The company also pointed out that these actions not only modify the form of port services provision, but also seek to impose regulatory conditions applicable to publicly owned ports (operated or concessioned by the State).
Chancay Megaport will increase hotel stays in Huaral by more than 40%.
In that sense, Cosco Shipping announced that they have seen the need to initiate actions to defend their right to provide port services in their terminals.under the form in which they were agreed upon at the beginning of this investment, which in the first stage alone already amounts to US$1.3 billion.
Faced with this, the company notified three weeks ago that it intended to start a dialogue before reaching international arbitration. However, to date they have not received any response from the State.
On the contrary, Cosco Shipping accuses that “OSITRAN officials maintain public interventions with arguments on their part, which we believe should be the subject of analysis and discussion in the process expressly designed for that purpose,” the statement says.
