A distribution center belonging to Ukrainian multimarket chain Aurora was damaged following a Russian attack on Saturday, 22 August, the company announced on social media.
All staff members were inside a protective shelter at the time of the strike, leaving no casualties among personnel. Aurora stores continue to operate as normal across the country while the business evaluates the scale of the damage.
Company officials said they have initiated an assessment of the affected facility and promised to provide additional details once verified data becomes available.
Aurora Multimarket is Ukraine's largest one-dollar store retail chain, specializing in discount household goods and everyday value products. In 2025, the company reported total revenues exceeding 58 billion hryvnias including value-added tax. At the start of the year, Aurora operated 1,817 stores in Ukraine, including 167 locations in the capital city of Kyiv, as well as 65 stores in neighboring Romania.
Strikes on retail infrastructure
The distribution center strike follows a separate attack on 20 August, when a Russian drone destroyed an Aurora store in Sloviansk, a frontline city located in eastern Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast.
Russia launched a systematic campaign to destroy the logistics networks of Ukraine's major retail operators starting in August 2026. The initial wave of large-scale strikes occurred overnight on 5 August, targeting major commercial storage hubs and supply facilities.
That 5 August barrage hit warehouses operated by Fozzy Group, one of Ukraine's largest retail conglomerates, which owns the Silpo supermarket chain, Fora convenience stores, and Fozzy hypermarkets. The attack also damaged facilities belonging to Rozetka, Ukraine's leading online e-commerce platform, supermarket operator Novus, home improvement hypermarket chain Epicentr-K, and a major hub run by Denka Logistics that served smaller commercial vendors.
Escalating bombardment of logistics
Russian forces launched further targeted strikes against commercial logistics networks on 20 August. Attacks hit a fresh-produce distribution facility operated by the Fora supermarket chain and a site belonging to a logistics partner of Novus.
The 20 August strikes also inflicted damage on facilities owned by ice cream manufacturer Faini Lody, warehouses belonging to the Eko Market supermarket chain, and an oil storage depot owned by Ukrainian fuel retailer KLO.
