Yemeni government forces hit by deadly Houthi attack

At least 58 members of Yemen government forces were killed today in drone and missile attacks launched by Houthi rebels. Dozens of others were wounded in the strikes, which mark the deadliest assault since both sides agreed to a ceasefire in 2022.

The defense minister of Yemen's internationally recognized government warned that the armed forces would respond to the attack at the appropriate time and place. Meanwhile, the Iran-backed Houthis stated that they launched the strikes in retaliation for what they described as a recent reinforcement of Saudi-backed Yemeni forces.

A military source told Agence France-Presse that 58 people died and dozens were injured in the attack. An earlier casualty toll had reported 38 dead and 29 wounded.
