Houthi Drone and Missile Attacks Kill 58 Yemeni Soldiers

Houthi rebels killed at least 58 Yemeni government soldiers on Thursday in drone and missile attacks, according to military sources. The strikes mark the deadliest assault since opposing sides agreed to a ceasefire in 2022.

A military source told Agence France-Presse that dozens of other soldiers were wounded. An earlier casualty toll had recorded 38 dead and 29 injured.

Retaliation and Warning

The Iran-backed Houthis stated that they launched the strikes in retaliation for what they called recent reinforcements of Saudi-backed Yemeni forces.

The defense minister of Yemen's internationally recognized government warned that the armed forces would respond to the attack at the appropriate time and place.
