Telephone spam is a real scourge of our time. Callers try to press a loan, insurance or solar panels, even though we live in a block of flats. Sometimes there is a bot under an unknown number, other times a convincing seller. The worst thing is that these connections come all day – during an important meeting, dinner with a family or evening longed -for rest.
How to recognize spam?
Spameters usually work according to a similar scheme. They call with unknown numbers, often starting similarly. When we pick up, we hear an automatic secretary or an insistent consultant. In the case of SMSs, the matter is even simpler – messages contain suspicious links, a strange spelling or too tempting offers.
Android – two steps to calmly
Android phone users have built -in tools for fighting spam at their disposal. Just look at the settings:
- Open the phone application
- Go into the settings (three dots in the upper right corner)
- Find the “ID interlocutor and spam” tab
- Turn on the spam detection option
For SMSs, the procedure is equally simple. In the message application, just enter the profile settings, then “protection against spam” and activate filtering.
Blocking in Apple devices
IPhone owners can also cut off from unwanted calls, but this option has its disadvantage, because it silences the connections of all numbers that we do not have in contacts. Information about a missed phone from a stranger will be sent to voicemail and will appear on the list of recent calls. To enable this option, you must:
- Enter the phone settings
- Then into the “Telephone” section
- Choose “silente calls from the unknown”
Additional, even better protection
For people looking for even more effective protection, application stores offer special programs to fight spam. Applications such as Truecaller or Hiya not only block unwanted calls, but also create a database of reported numbers and warn of potential fraudsters. Such applications are available both on Android and in the Apple system.
