However, few know that the photograph was never actually taken. It was generated by Midjourney – a special application specializing in creating images through artificial intelligence.

The photo, which quickly conquered the web, becomes the object of deeper reflection. “I thought the pope’s quilted jacket was real and I didn’t think about it any longer. I can’t survive the future created by technology,” wrote 37-year-old Chrissy Teigen, a model and celebrity, quoted by Polsat News in the network.

Others give a “recipe” for their own rapper pope. Other artificially generated photographs show the former president of the United States fleeing from the police or being knocked to the ground in front of the officers. There are even images of Trump in a cell circulating on the web – also completely untrue.

Midjourney is one of many tools that allow you to translate text commands into images. Just like, for example, Dall-e2, the work of the creators of OpenAI, which includes the hugely popular ChatGPT.

AI works on the basis of the so-called. GAN (Generative Adversarial Networks). It consists of two neural networks – a generator and a discriminator. The generator uses input such as text to generate the images, and the discriminator is responsible for determining whether the image is genuine or not. To put it another way – the generator creates images, the discriminator recognizes them.

Artificial intelligence can also imitate the works of individual artists, combine different styles, create realistic photographs.
