Brazilian footballer “Zenith” announced his readiness to play for the Russian national team

Midfielder of St. Petersburg Zenit and the Brazilian Olympic team Claudinho spoke about the prospect of playing for the Russian national team. It is reported by Sport24.

The player noted that he is ready to change sports citizenship for the sake of performing at the World Championship. “If I don’t get the chance to play for Brazil, I’ll take another chance,” he said.

Claudinho signed a contract with Zenit on August 7, the Russian club paid 12 million euros for the 24-year-old Brazilian. This season, he has played seven matches for the blue-white-blue in all tournaments, in which he scored two goals and made two assists.

In the history of the Russian national football team, there were three naturalized Brazilians: goalkeeper Guilherme, defender Mario Fernandez and striker Ari. Only the goalkeeper continues to play for the national team.
