Left-back Guilherme Arana spoke this Monday, at a press conference held in the USA, about his return to the Brazilian team after the serious injury that took him out of action for more than 240 days. The player participated in the 90 minutes in Brazil’s 3-2 victory over Mexico, last Saturday.
“I had a very serious injury, when you have an injury like this, a lot of things go through your head, you think it’s not possible to return to a high level. I created a lot of doubts in the recovery process, but I always had family and friends giving me strength, and fortunately I managed to first return to a high level at my club, and then return to represent my country, which I am very proud of (…) I’m happy to be here having another opportunity, where many people dream of being, so. I feel privileged and proud.”, said the Atlético Mineiro athlete.

When asked about the position disputes in the national team, Arana highlighted the good atmosphere behind the scenes and everyone’s desire to raise the team’s level, regardless of who plays.
“We are here to raise the level of the National Team, regardless of who plays, everyone needs to be prepared. (…) Of course I want to play, but we are working. When we leave the field everyone is friends, everyone gets along embrace it, because everyone will win and lose together, whether they have to lose or win. So this connection, this off-field brotherhood, is important (…) The important thing is the respect we have for each other.
Brazil still has one last friendly match scheduled against the United States team, which will take place next Wednesday, at 8pm (Brasília time). After that, the team begins its preparation for the Copa América, where it will debut against Costa Rica, on the 24th.
