Do you clean your washing machine with vinegar and baking soda? Don’t do that again! “Could cause harm”

Recently, home methods that our grandmothers used to clean their homes have become very popular. It turns out, however, that it is better to be careful with some of them, because they may do more harm than good.

Instagram is a real mine of inspiration, where among popular posts and reels you can find many trends, real-life stories, as well as beauty tips and tricks. There is also no shortage of various home remedies. Recently, methods of cleaning the house using products we have in the kitchen – especially vinegar and baking soda – have become very popular. However, despite their universality, you must remember to use them carefully.

Do you clean your washing machine with a mixture of baking soda and vinegar? This is a big mistake

Ewa Święcicka, who runs an Instagram profile under the name @domowynieporadnik, wrote in one of her posts about being careful with vinegar and combining it with baking soda. She admitted that although she encourages the use of vinegar and talks about its great properties, even with it you have to be careful because if used incorrectly it can destroy home appliances. She paid particular attention to cleaning the washing machine with a mixture of vinegar and baking soda.

– I watched a viral video in which, apart from covering the seals with vinegar, baking soda was poured into the drum and vinegar was poured into the drawer. Additionally, the washing cycle was run at 90 degrees! Anyone who has combined baking soda with vinegar knows what a violent reaction will occur after mixing them inside the drum. Additionally, very high temperatures can cause real harm to your equipment! Never do that! – she wrote. “Remember to always use common sense when using all cleaning products,” she added.

“Sometimes less is more”

There were many comments under the post from Internet users who thanked us for drawing attention to this issue. Some of them admitted that they had no idea about it, and this entry explained a lot to them:

No extreme is good and this rule applies to everything! Great post and explains so much! Thanks

Very important post

I got a brand new faucet at the sink because I made a vinegar compress, there wasn’t much limescale, but it ate away the coating on the faucet.

In general, cleaning is the best proof that it was worth paying attention to chemistry at school, because it is pure chemistry. You just need to skillfully combine chemical knowledge with real life situations

Sometimes less is more. In everything, only common sense saves us

Valuable advice, I didn’t know that. I use vinegar for everything

It is worth adding here that under no circumstances should you combine vinegar with chlorine-based bleaches – chlorine gas is released!!!
