Coach Roberto Martínez released, this Monday, the call-up of the Portugal national team for the next games of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
The novelty is due to Toti Gomes. The commander explained why the 24-year-old Wolverhampton defender was called up.
“He is a very interesting player, he is different from the others. He’s physical, very strong, a left-handed player. His performances at Wolverhampton were very good. It’s not a situation of excluding players, it’s about deciding on different aspects. We need to play with different abilities and I think Toti offers that”, he said.
Other returns on the list also include midfielder Renato Sanches, from Paris Saint-Germain, winger Nélson Semedo, from Wolverhampton, and striker Ricardo Horta, from Sporting.
