Two-time Olympic figure skating champion Evgeni Plushenko appreciated the desire of figure skater Alina Zagitova to take part in a boxing exhibition match. His words are quoted by Teleprogramma.pro.
The athlete reacted to the decision of the 20-year-old figure skater with the phrase “I’m not at all interested in this.” Plushenko called it wrong to want to follow the lives of other people, and said that he was focused on his school and students.
The fact that Zagitova will hold a boxing match was reported on June 20. Later it became known that she would fight Olympic champion Albert Batyrgaziev at Luzhniki, but this information was denied.
Zagitova suspended performances in December 2019. The figure skater focused on the work of the host in the Ice Age show, as well as performances in ice shows. The athlete is an Olympic champion and silver medalist of the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang.
