Executive will allocate S/500 million to regional governments, confirms Prime Minister Adrianzén

The president of the Council of Ministers of Peru, Gustavo Adrianzén, announced today at a press conference that a supreme emergency decree would be published – in an extraordinary edition – to establish support for local governments and mitigate the contraction of economic activity. The total amount, coming from the public treasury, amounts to S/500 million, but the budget could be increased.

“During the first quarter we have had the effect of lower collection, especially in Foncomun, which feeds transfers to around 1,900 municipalities, so we will publish a DS that distributes S/500 million to the municipalities,” said the head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), José Arista.

Likewise, he explained that the standard would be published today and on Monday the DS in El Peruano so that on Thursday the mayors already have the resource in their respective accounts and can finance not only current expenses, but also capital expenses. These resources will be allocated equally to all municipalities in the country.

In that sense, it was emphasized that the resource will be freely available so that municipalities can meet their urgent needs, complete projects that were paralyzed precisely due to lack of financing, and develop the corresponding technical files.
