Carlos Linares Peñaloza presented his resignation from the position of director and president of the Board of Directors of Petroperú, in accordance with an Important Fact published in the Superintendence of the Securities Market (SMV).

Linares Peñaloza had been appointed as the new president of the Board of Directors of the state oil company by the General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) of Petroperú on Friday, March 1, 2024.

His resignation occurs after the Superior Court of Administrative Responsibilities of the Comptroller General of the Republic (TSRA), disqualified him for one year from the exercise of public office for an alleged infraction during his period as president of the Board of Directors of the Financial Corporation of Development (COFIDE). Despite challenging the decision before the Judiciary, he made the decision to leave office.

Before presenting his resignation, he had a conversation with the head of the Ministry of Economy, José Arista, who points out that a complaint he had in the Comptroller General of the Republic was reactivated and that to avoid compromising the institution he is taking a step aside. “It’s a loss I regret,” Arista said.

During the two months that he held the presidency of Petroperú, Linares Peñaloza led the process of strengthening and sustainability of the company, approving the restructuring actions, as well as the guidelines and austerity measures for the current year. Likewise, the information corresponding to the status of the New Talara Refinery was made transparent.
