Brazilian soccer player Dani Alves accused of rape says he’s not afraid of jail
Brazilian footballer Dani Alves, accused of rape, made the first statement since his arrest. His words are quoted by Marca.
The 39-year-old athlete said that he left home at the age of 15, so he is not afraid of a prison term. “I have gone through very difficult and confusing situations in my life. This conclusion is just one of them,” he stressed.
Alves was arrested on January 20. The alleged victim of the football player reported that he locked her in the bathroom of a nightclub, where he beat and raped her. Doctors confirmed that the girl had injuries indicating resistance. Alves faces four to 12 years in prison.
Alves is the most titled football player in the world. He became the champion of France, Italy, Spain and won the national cups of these countries. As part of the Brazilian national team, the defender won the Copa America and the Confederations Cup twice, and also won the Olympic Games and the World Youth Championship.
