England defender Kieran Trippier has extended his contract with Newcastle until 2025, the Premier League club announced on Friday. The 32-year-old defender, who arrived at Newcaste in January 2021 from Atlético de Madrid, has already worn the England national team shirt in 40 games.
Since his arrival, the athlete has established himself as one of the most consistent and efficient players on the team, with a goal and six assists this season.
“He has been excellent on and off the field, showing leadership qualities in difficult moments since his arrival and now shines in a team that are doing well. I cannot praise enough for all he has given this club,” said the coach Eddie Howe, quoted in the official statement.
Newcastle are currently third in the Premier League and have the best defense in the league, having conceded just 11 goals in 20 games.
The club also has a 15-match unbeaten run in the competition.
