A photo circulating on Facebook and X claimed to show Juan Sheput lying on the floor during his swearing-in as Peru's Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, in front of President Keiko Fujimori. Analysis found the image was generated with artificial intelligence.

The image spread on social media following the recent swearing-in of new members of the Council of Ministers.

Inconsistencies in the viral image
Several inconsistencies raised doubts about the photo's authenticity. Sheput was not wearing his ministerial sash, which he would have worn during the ceremony, and the face attributed to Fujimori did not match her real appearance.

A comparison with the official broadcast of the ceremony, aired by TV Peru, confirmed that these inconsistencies do not appear in the real event. Sheput did wear his ministerial sash, Fujimori kept her usual facial features, and her shoes were cream colored, not blue as shown in the viral image. Sheput never lay on the floor during the ceremony.

AI detection results
The image was also analyzed using the AI detection platforms Sightengine, TruthScan and Hive Moderation. Sightengine found a 99% probability that the image was AI-generated, TruthScan found 96%, and Hive Moderation found 92.9%.

Based on these findings, the image does not correspond to a real event.
