Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits $800M in record 19 days

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $800 million at the domestic box office in a record 19 days, becoming the fastest film in cinema history to reach the milestone.

The superhero production from Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios passed the threshold on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Data from tracking website Box Office Mojo confirmed that the film broke the previous record of 23 days set by the 2015 space opera Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the movie is only the fourth film in cinematic history to surpass $800 million in North American ticket sales. Cretton previously directed the 2021 Marvel Cinematic Universe feature Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for Marvel Studios.

Box office record benchmarks

The milestone marks the third film in actor Tom Holland's career to reach $800 million at the domestic box office, and the second for co-star Zendaya. Holland portrays Peter Parker, while Zendaya stars alongside him in the long-running superhero franchise.

According to figures reported by industry outlet Deadline, only three other films have ever achieved the $800 million domestic mark. Star Wars: The Force Awakens reached the total in 23 days, while Marvel Studios' 2019 blockbuster Avengers: Endgame took 32 days. The 2021 hit Spider-Man: No Way Home reached the threshold in 100 days.

The success highlights the continued commercial strength of the joint venture between Sony Pictures and Disney's Marvel Studios. Sony holds the film rights to the Marvel Comics character, while Marvel Studios integrates the character into its shared cinematic universe.

Fourth weekend theatrical competition

Heading into its fourth weekend of theatrical release, Brand New Day is expected to hold the top spot at the American box office despite a slate of new nationwide arrivals. Competition entering cinemas includes horror sequel Insidious: Out the Further, distributed by Sony in partnership with Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster.

Other major releases entering the market include Vertical's fantasy feature The Magic Faraway Tree and the Lionsgate action film Mutiny, which stars Jason Statham. Statham is widely known for leading high-octane action franchises, while Blumhouse has established a reputation as a leading producer of low-budget theatrical horror.

Earlier earnings milestones

The record breaking domestic run follows several historic financial milestones achieved by the film since its debut earlier in the month. The production crossed $1 billion in worldwide box office revenue in just six days following its premiere.

During its initial launch, Brand New Day generated $927 million globally over its opening weekend. That opening figure represented the second-largest worldwide theatrical debut in cinema history, setting up its historic domestic run.
