Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is in early talks to resume her acting career with a role in the Netflix television series The Gentlemen, according to reports from British media outlets including the BBC and Sky News.
Negotiations regarding the potential role remain in their initial stages, and details about the character Markle might portray have not been disclosed. If confirmed, she would join the cast for the third season of the show, which has not yet been formally renewed by the streaming service.
Created by filmmaker Guy Ritchie and starring actor Theo James, The Gentlemen is a comedy series following a British duke who becomes involved in drug trafficking. The show is scheduled to release its second season on September 3.
Royal Relocation to the United Kingdom
The potential acting role comes alongside reports published on Wednesday evening that Prince Harry has decided to return to the United Kingdom from the United States with his wife and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly enrolled their children in a local school and plan to live in a non-royal residence outside London, though the specific location has not been revealed. The couple stepped back from official duties within the Royal House in early 2020 in order to become financially independent.
On Friday morning, the BBC highlighted a report from the Australian news website news.com.au stating that the couple's decision to relocate back to British territory was driven by an acting job offer extended to Markle for an upcoming production.

Acting Background and Business Ventures
Markle previously paused her acting career to marry Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, in 2018. She was best known for her role in the American legal drama series Suits, in which she played attorney Rachel Zane for seven seasons, making her final appearance in 2018.
After stepping away from screen roles, Markle recently resumed acting by filming a cameo as herself in the upcoming comedy film Close Personal Friends, which stars Lily Collins and Brie Larson.
In addition to her television work, the BBC reported that Markle plans to use her time in the United Kingdom to expand the global reach of As Ever, her American-based lifestyle and cooking brand.
Security Funding and Political Stance
The reported move back to Britain has raised questions regarding who will pay for the family's security, which was removed when they stopped representing the monarchy in 2020.
Estimates published by the Daily Express tabloid place the annual cost of their personal protection at 5 million pounds, or 5.8 million euros, if funded by British taxpayers.
Addressing questions over the arrangements, the British Prime Minister stated that security for Prince Harry and Meghan is a private matter.
