Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 and Anker Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro earbuds have been named by owners as the top wireless models for voice call quality.
While buyers of true wireless stereo earbuds frequently focus on battery endurance, noise reduction, and music playback, clarity during phone conversations remains a decisive factor for daily use, according to tech outlet BGR. Owners reported that both models excel at keeping speech clear even in loud settings, with call recipients frequently noting the improved audio clarity.
One owner of the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro reported taking a business call from inside a noisy karaoke bar, where the person on the other end of the line was still able to hear his voice without difficulty.
Microphone hardware and bone conduction technology
To deliver clear conversation quality, both manufacturers rely on advanced hardware combinations alongside artificial intelligence. True wireless stereo, or TWS, earbud designs eliminate physical cables entirely, relying on tiny internal microphone arrays and onboard signal processing to filter out ambient sound.
Anker built the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro with eight internal microphones, two bone conduction sensors, and a custom artificial intelligence processor dedicated to separating human speech from background sounds. Bone conduction technology captures audio vibrations directly through the bones of the user's skull rather than relying solely on airborne sound waves picked up by conventional microphones, making it particularly effective at isolating speech in noisy locations.
Huawei uses an acoustic bone conduction sensor in the FreeBuds Pro 5, combining input from two sound drivers with artificial intelligence algorithms to enhance voice transmission. Sound intensity is measured in decibels on a logarithmic scale, and both companies state that their systems sample surrounding noise approximately 400,000 times per second to reduce background noise levels by up to 100 decibels.
Anker claimed its system can detect human speech at sound levels starting from 30 decibels in quiet conditions. Huawei highlighted its focus on reducing wind noise, stating its model can block wind interference at speeds up to 35 kilometers per hour.
Pricing and market competition
Both the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 carry a retail price of around $170. That pricing positions both products as lower cost alternatives to high end wireless models from established premium brands such as Bose and Apple.
Chinese electronics maker Anker Innovations sells its audio products under the Soundcore brand, while global technology corporation Huawei produces consumer devices alongside telecommunications hardware. Premium market competitors such as Massachusetts-based Bose Corporation and California-based Apple Inc. have long dominated the premium noise canceling headphone segment.
The market for mobile audio accessories has also seen shifting user preferences across different product categories. Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reported that some consumers are returning to traditional wired headphones, driven by the practical advantage of never needing to recharge battery components.
Apple updated its wireless lineup earlier this month with the release of the AirPods 5. The new model features an upgraded acoustic architecture and active noise cancellation, with Apple reporting up to a 50 percent boost in active noise cancellation efficiency over the previous AirPods 4 generation.
