Chinese automaker Voyah has officially presented the Dreamer 9, a new flagship luxury minivan designed to compete with the Lexus LM, featuring up to 761 horsepower and an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture.
The premium vehicle is available in both plug-in hybrid and fully electric configurations. Prices start at 420,000 yuan, or roughly 5.3 million rubles. The top-tier hybrid version is priced at 520,000 yuan, equivalent to 6.6 million rubles, while the most expensive electric model will cost buyers 530,000 yuan, or 6.7 million rubles.
The exterior of the Dreamer 9 is distinguished by a massive corporate grille featuring prominent vertical slats. In a design element reminiscent of Rolls-Royce vehicles, the minivan features an illuminated hood ornament that automatically retracts into the bodywork. The exterior styling is completed with a two-tone paint finish, 20-inch mirror-polished alloy wheels, and complex rear optics.
The vehicle is equipped with Huawei XPIXEL headlights, which contain 2.6 million pixels. This technology allows the lighting system to project navigation arrows, lane departure warnings, and welcome animations directly onto the road surface ahead of the vehicle.
Scandinavian maple interior
Inside, the cabin is offered in a white and brown colour scheme, accented by 18 trim inserts crafted from Scandinavian maple. The front of the cabin features two 15.6-inch displays for the driver and passenger, while a panoramic glass roof spans nearly the entire length of the interior space.
Voyah, which operates as the premium electric vehicle division of the state-owned Dongfeng Motor Corporation, has focused heavily on the passenger compartment. The second-row seats can slide and rotate 45, 90, or 180 degrees to facilitate different seating arrangements. In a designated "zero gravity" mode, the backrest reclines to 147 degrees.
All seats in the vehicle, including those in the third row, are equipped with ventilation, heating, and massage functions as standard. The second-row seating also features removable control displays integrated into the armrests.
Huawei infotainment and chassis systems
The rear cabin environment features electrochromic glass that can alter its tint level in just 10 milliseconds. Passengers have access to a 13-litre refrigerator and a 21.4-inch display mounted to the ceiling. The minivan's multimedia system runs on Huawei HarmonySpace 6 and the MoLA 2.0 architecture. It utilises an artificial intelligence model called SystemAgent, which boasts hundreds of billions of parameters, for voice and multimodal control.
The Dreamer 9 is built on a chassis equipped with a three-chamber air suspension system and dual-valve adaptive EDC shock absorbers. The suspension uses a double wishbone setup at the front and a five-link design at the rear. A VMC system works in real time to coordinate the intelligent all-wheel drive, the braking system, and the suspension.
To improve the manoeuvrability of the large minivan in car parks and to increase stability at high speeds, the rear wheels can turn up to 10 degrees in either direction. The intelligent all-wheel-drive system automatically distributes traction between the front and rear axles depending on the road conditions.
Driver assistance is handled by the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 platform, which relies on a network of 37 sensors. This sensor suite includes three blind-spot radars and a new 896-line lidar with a dual-channel optical system. The automated driving package is designed for use in urban environments, on highways, and during parking manoeuvres.
Hybrid and electric powertrains
Both powertrain options utilise an 800-volt architecture, which typically allows for much faster charging speeds than older systems. The plug-in hybrid model combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with two electric motors to produce a total of 761 horsepower.
The hybrid variant features a 65 kilowatt-hour battery capable of 5C charging. According to Voyah, this setup allows the battery to replenish from 20 to 80 percent in 12 minutes. The vehicle can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 5.9 seconds.
On pure electric power, the hybrid has a range of 340 kilometres, with a maximum combined range of 1,500 kilometres under the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle. When the battery is discharged, fuel consumption is rated at 5.55 litres per 100 kilometres.
The fully electric version of the Dreamer 9 is equipped with a larger 120 kilowatt-hour traction battery and dual electric motors that generate 646 horsepower. It matches the hybrid model's 5.9-second acceleration time to 100 kilometres per hour and provides a certified driving range of 700 kilometres.
