The updated SUV arrives with a 2.5-liter engine standard across the entire range and introduces new connectivity technology.

Mazda, a multinational automaker headquartered in Japan, has seen the CX-5 become its best-selling SUV globally since the model's debut. The new generation aims to build on that success by balancing comfort, safety, and technology.

The presentation took place at the brand's official showroom, located at the intersection of John F. Kennedy and Máximo Gómez avenues, two major thoroughfares in the Dominican capital of Santo Domingo.

Presenters Luz García and Raeldo López hosted the event. They guided the presentation using an interactive podcast format that was themed around traditional Japanese culture, gastronomy, and music.

The launch drew a diverse group of diplomats and automotive executives. Attendees included Ito Hikaru, the charge d'affaires ad interim of the Japanese Embassy in the Dominican Republic, and Kota Sakaguchi, representing the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Japanese government's official development assistance arm.

Also present were Sergio Maffettone, the Italian ambassador to the Dominican Republic; Carlos Méndez, Mazda's ambassador for the A4 region; and Mike Kuroiwa, president of the Panama regional office of Japanese trading company Itochu Corporation. They were joined by executives from Grupo Viamar, guests from the Dominican automotive sector, media representatives, and influencers.

Interior redesign and family focus

The redesign focuses heavily on the interior, aiming to improve the experience for Dominican families. The cabin offers greater comfort and accessibility for all occupants, improved ergonomics in every row of seats, and increased cargo capacity with new storage solutions.

Pedro Then, the brand manager for Mazda in the Dominican Republic, said driver satisfaction remains the company's driving force.

Then said the new CX-5 represents the evolution of a key model in Mazda's history. He added that the vehicle was designed to provide higher levels of comfort, safety, and versatility without losing the driving pleasure associated with the brand.
