Oakberry Opens First Store in the Dominican Republic

Global superfood brand Oakberry has officially opened its first store in the Dominican Republic at Plaza Andalucía in Santo Domingo.

The new location marks a major step in the company's expansion across Latin America and the Caribbean. The brand's arrival responds to rising local demand for practical, healthy food options designed for active lifestyles, alongside a vibrant commercial environment and a year-round tropical climate.

Operations in the Caribbean nation are managed under a Master Franchise model led by sisters Carla Cohen, Daniela Cohen, and Valerie Cohen. The sisters are overseeing the brand's development and long-term commercial growth throughout the country.

Oakberry, which was founded in Brazil in 2016, operates as a fast-casual superfood chain specializing in organic açaí. The brand has built an international footprint across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, promoting açaí as a nutrient-dense food rich in antioxidants.

Daniela Cohen said that the Dominican Republic features consumers who are closely aligned with global wellness trends and accustomed to a fast-paced lifestyle that requires quick dining solutions without compromising on quality. She noted that bringing Oakberry to the country was a natural business opportunity, adding that customer enthusiasm on opening day confirmed that the timing was right.

Expansion plans and product offering

As part of its Dominican growth strategy, Oakberry projects opening 10 stores across the country over the next 24 months. The company intends to establish its initial footprint in the capital of Santo Domingo before expanding into secondary markets including Santiago, the resort region of Punta Cana, and local airport terminals.

Santo Domingo serves as the political and financial capital of the country, while Santiago de los Caballeros is the primary urban center of the northern Cibao region. Punta Cana, situated on the eastern coast, is one of the premier resort destinations in the Caribbean, anchored by a major international airport that handles millions of travelers annually.

The menu at the new flagship store centers on Oakberry's signature açaí bowls and smoothies. Each order is prepared with an açaí base and customized according to customer preference with fresh fruits, artisanal granolas, nut spreads, superfoods, and additional toppings.

To deepen its connection with local consumers, the brand plans a progressive rollout of Dominican ingredients and toppings designed to complement the traditional Brazilian açaí flavor.

Store design and operating hours

The flagship location's architectural concept was developed in collaboration with Incociv, a Dominican architecture, design, and construction firm. The store design combines Oakberry's corporate visual identity with warm color palettes, natural wood accents, and organic surface finishes.

Operating under a Grab and Go model, the venue is tailored for fast customer service while providing a comfortable dining space that features a dedicated Kids Corner for families who choose to stay on site.

The Plaza Andalucía store is open Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Thursday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Delivery services are set to launch in early October exclusively through the digital ordering platform PedidosYa.

PedidosYa is one of Latin America's leading online delivery platforms, operating across major Dominican cities to connect consumers with local restaurants and retail stores.

Valerie Cohen said that the inaugural location is only the starting point for the business in the country. She emphasized that the company aims to turn açaí from an occasional treat into a regular element of daily Dominican life, which requires placing store locations near where residents live, work, and exercise.
