Francke: “The Constitution Commission does not want companies and high-income people to pay more taxes”

The head of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Pedro FranckeHe detailed this Wednesday that the Congressional Constitution Commission will not address the important points of the request for legislative powers sent by the Executive to expand the fiscal box.

“We have learned that the president of the Commission – Patricia Juárez (Fuerza Popular) – does not agree that companies and high-income people pay more taxes”, said the minister via Twitter.

Francke Ballvé added that despite the extraordinary profits currently obtained by Large-Scale Mining given the high prices of minerals, and receiving the permission and support of the International Monetary Fund to tax them, said working group “intends to eliminate that fundamental part in order to finance hospitals, schools and water ”.

Added to that nor would they approve the proposal of progressivity of the Income Tax for rental income. This measure – adds Francke – would allow 133,000 people to pay nothing or pay less tax. “Why? Is it wrong for 57,000 high-income homeowners to contribute a little more? ”He wrote.

Finally, Francke pointed out that Congress in recent years granted tax legislative powers 16 times, and he questions why they are now being denied it. “Why can’t high-income individuals and businesses contribute more to close gaps in health, education, sanitation and roads?”

“The time is today. We need changes in favor of those most in need. I am confident that the majority of congressmen will not turn their back on the country, which will support the tax reform that is urgent, transparent, fair, responsible and decentralist. For a better Peru ”, he declared.
