AlphaSniper says Andorra move saved millions in tax

Spanish streamer David Diaz says moving his home and businesses to Andorra saved him millions of euros while escaping pressure on high earners.

AlphaSniper says Andorra move saved millions in tax

Spanish content creator David Diaz, known online as AlphaSniper, says he has saved millions of euros in taxes after moving to Andorra almost four years ago.

Diaz said during an interview on the Ac2ality podcast that he also relocated his companies to the Pyrenean principality, but insisted that saving money was not his primary reason for leaving Spain.

The online personality, who is the brother of social media influencer Marta Diaz, revealed that while he does not know the exact figure he stopped paying to Spanish authorities, the overall total runs into millions of euros.

Tax savings and business relocation

Diaz explained that moving his corporate activity outside Spain represented a major financial change for high earners. He described the tax differential between Spain and Andorra as heavy, noting that operating under a significantly reduced tax framework allows him to retain a substantial margin of income every year.

Andorra, a sovereign microstate in the Pyrenees mountains between Spain and France, is known for its low tax regime, where maximum personal and corporate tax rates are capped at 10 percent compared to significantly higher top marginal rates in Spain.

Despite the substantial sums conserved each year, Diaz emphasized that financial gain was not the main catalyst for his departure. He stated that if lower taxes had been his sole objective, he would have relocated much earlier, having previously rejected lucrative offers to move abroad.

Allegations of institutional pressure

Addressing widespread perceptions that internet personalities move strictly to reduce their tax burden, Diaz asserted that he did not leave Spain because of taxes. Instead, he attributed his move to administrative and institutional pressure targeting taxpayers once they reach a specific income threshold.

He claimed that creating wealth in Spain involves facing continuous obstacles that ultimately penalize professional success. Diaz added that official strategy in Spain effectively creates an enemy out of high-net-worth individuals and successful entrepreneurs.

For Diaz, financial resources function primarily as a tool for personal freedom and peace of mind rather than purely material gain. He noted that wealth simply amplifies an individual's existing character, reinforcing either their virtues or their flaws.

Personal drawbacks and travel distance

While enjoying greater professional stability and peace of mind in Andorra, Diaz acknowledged that living outside Spain comes with personal costs. He cited the distance from his family and close personal circle as the single major downside to his relocation.

However, he pointed out that the geographic proximity of Andorra to Spain makes travel manageable. He noted that he remains only a six-hour drive away from his home country, making visits to family feasible despite residing across the border.
