Xiaomi launches Redmi M100 phone with 7,900 mAh battery

Xiaomi has launched its new Redmi M100 smartphone in China, featuring a massive 7,900 mAh battery and support for 45 W fast charging.

Pricing for the handset starts at 1,999 yuan in the domestic Chinese market, which is equivalent to approximately $296. Xiaomi has not announced information regarding an international release for the phone.

However, specifications for the upcoming Poco M8x 5G align almost completely with the Redmi M100. Because the technical details match so closely, the new model may be released in global markets under the Poco brand name.

Battery capacity and physical dimensions

The defining feature of the Redmi M100 is its 7,900 mAh battery, which works alongside 45 W fast charging technology. Despite carrying such a large battery, the smartphone measures 8.8 mm in thickness and has a weight of 232 g.

Battery capacity in mobile electronics is measured in milliampere-hours, with most standard smartphones offering between 4,000 mAh and 5,000 mAh. A capacity of 7,900 mAh is designed to provide extended multi-day battery life between charges.

The debut follows Xiaomi's earlier introduction of the Redmi 17 and Redmi 17 5G, both of which were equipped with 7,500 mAh batteries.

Display performance and camera systems

The Redmi M100 features a 6.9-inch LCD screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate for smooth display scrolling. The panel provides a resolution of 720x1600 pixels and reaches a peak brightness level of up to 825 nits.

For optics, the smartphone incorporates a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The handset runs on Xiaomi's HyperOS 3 operating system.

Processor performance and hardware configurations

Internal processing is driven by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor. Buyers can choose between 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM, paired with internal storage capacities of either 128 GB or 256 GB.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 series processors are built to handle core computing tasks efficiently in entry-level and budget smartphones. HyperOS is Xiaomi's custom user interface environment designed across its device portfolio.

Headquartered in Beijing, Xiaomi Corporation is one of the world's leading smartphone manufacturers, operating product lines under its primary brand as well as sub-brands like Redmi and Poco.

In related operational updates, Xiaomi recently completed ending software support for several of its popular older smartphones and tablets.
