Xiaomi has announced the global launch date for its upcoming Redmi Note 17 smartphone series, setting an official unveiling event in Malaysia for August 18, 2026.

The release marks the first time that Xiaomi has included a Pro Max tier in the Redmi Note product line. This new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max will be positioned directly above the standard Redmi Note 17 and the Redmi Note 17 Pro.
According to a promotional image shared by Xiaomi, the flagship Redmi Note 17 Pro Max serves as the most eye-catching device in the series. The promotional material reveals that the phone relies on a 10,000 mAh capacity silicon-carbon battery, setting a record for the largest battery ever incorporated into a Redmi Note handset.
Xiaomi Corporation, headquartered in Beijing, is one of the world's largest smartphone manufacturers. Its Redmi Note lineup traditionally focuses on delivering high-end display and battery specifications at mid-range price points. The adoption of silicon-carbon battery chemistry enables manufacturers to pack higher energy densities into slim mobile hardware than conventional lithium-ion batteries.
The handsets currently sold in China offer clear clues about what consumers can expect from the global specifications. However, the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max does not yet have an official equivalent model in the domestic Chinese Redmi Note 17 lineup, making the 10,000 mAh variant an exclusive top-tier addition for international markets.
Specifications for standard and Pro models
The baseline Redmi Note 17 model features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor, paired with a seven-inch OLED screen. Power is supplied by an 8,000 mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging, while camera capabilities feature a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The handset also comes with an IP65 certification for physical durability.
The mid-tier Redmi Note 17 Pro moves to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip and features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display delivering a 1.5K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It is powered by a 9,000 mAh battery and incorporates a dual-camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor and a two-megapixel depth sensor, supported by an IP69K durability rating.
In mobile hardware standards, ingress protection codes define environmental resistance. An IP65 rating denotes protection against dust penetration and low-pressure liquid spray, whereas an IP69K rating represents an extreme industrial standard guarding against close-range, high-pressure, and high-temperature water jets.
Full launch details expected in Malaysia
Xiaomi is expected to announce the full technical specifications, regional availability, and retail pricing for the entire Redmi Note 17 lineup during the launch event in Malaysia on August 18.
